About me
Hi! I'm Lindsey.

I'm a health educator, like to run at a slow, but steady pace, teach group fitness classes, and do my best to keep up with my family that's spread across the country. In the midst all of that, playing in the kitchen is one of my favorite stress relievers and creative outlets, so this blog chronicles some of my favorite cooking and baking adventures, but in the process it also tells the story of the rest of my life.

Like many people in the Triangle area, I'm a transplant. After spending the first 21 years of my life in the midwest, I've been settled in North Carolina for seven years. One of the things I love most about the area is the diversity of local farms, farmers' markets, and great food, so I follow lots of local food happenings, but I also keep up with my fair share of Midwestern favorites.

If you like what you find here, feel free to drop me a note and email Yummy things. I'd love to hear from all of you out there!

Family fun

The other weekend, we took my cousin’s wedding as a chance to take a long weekend trip to Indiana.  We were a little nervous about flying into Louisville, because it required a connection, which we had never dealt with before.

However, for the most part, Hazel did really well.  As we flew, she enjoyed looking out the window, like her Poppa, and along the way, we discovered that plastic cups from the beverage cart were better than any of the actual toys we brought along with us.

Upon arriving into town, we went straight to visit my cousin, Erin, who had a baby girl just four weeks prior.  It’s been years since we’d seen each other, but we’ve connected up again over shared food blogs and pregnancy experiences, so it was great to get to introduce our babies to each other.

The next day we attended the wedding that we traveled to town for.  As new parents are apt to do, we took plenty of photos of Hazel dressed up for the ceremonies.

However, we were having too much fun catching up with people - aunts, uncles and cousins from both sides of our family - to take photos of the bride and groom.  Unfortunately, we also failed to take good pictures of Hazel’s introductions to two other cousins over the course of the weekend.  So we have to settle for relying on others’ phones to document those visits.

Luckily, we did use the fact that we were all in town to get some formal photos taken, with my family and my grandfather.  It’s hard to believe that we didn’t manage to do this before Hazel got to eight months old!

It was a full weekend of family fun!
