About me
Hi! I'm Lindsey.

I'm a health educator, like to run at a slow, but steady pace, teach group fitness classes, and do my best to keep up with my family that's spread across the country. In the midst all of that, playing in the kitchen is one of my favorite stress relievers and creative outlets, so this blog chronicles some of my favorite cooking and baking adventures, but in the process it also tells the story of the rest of my life.

Like many people in the Triangle area, I'm a transplant. After spending the first 21 years of my life in the midwest, I've been settled in North Carolina for seven years. One of the things I love most about the area is the diversity of local farms, farmers' markets, and great food, so I follow lots of local food happenings, but I also keep up with my fair share of Midwestern favorites.

If you like what you find here, feel free to drop me a note and email Yummy things. I'd love to hear from all of you out there!

Fun with Aunt Kelsey

Before heading off for adventures in Vermont and Oregon, Kelsey came to visit for a long weekend.  Luckily, her initial bad luck, getting into RDU seven hours after she was supposed to, didn’t carry on past the day of her arrival, and we had a lovely visit.

In addition to Hazel’s sweet potatoes, we enjoyed other yummy things, including Kelsey’s taco salad, dinner outside at Baba Ghannouj, breakfast at Foster’s, and a lunch break at Sage.

Taco salad, with a very smart dressing whipped up from sour cream, ranch dressing and taco seasoning, which I’ll definitely have to repeat

Also, between one reading session and the next, we checked out Family Day at the Nasher Musem of Art and engaged in some less intellectual time at the pool

It seems that the Nasher has better descriptions of its artwork than most other art museums, and it’s a good thing, because apparently I don’t really know enough to really get most of the work they have on display.  But the Jazz Loft photography exhibit is pretty cool.

Ultimately though, it’s hard to beat the pool during summer in North Carolina.  Hazel is really warming up to the water.  By the time Kelsey’s back in the neighborhood, maybe she’ll even be swimming on her own!

A full set of photos is on Flickr for those who are my contacts there.
