About me
Hi! I'm Lindsey.

I'm a health educator, like to run at a slow, but steady pace, teach group fitness classes, and do my best to keep up with my family that's spread across the country. In the midst all of that, playing in the kitchen is one of my favorite stress relievers and creative outlets, so this blog chronicles some of my favorite cooking and baking adventures, but in the process it also tells the story of the rest of my life.

Like many people in the Triangle area, I'm a transplant. After spending the first 21 years of my life in the midwest, I've been settled in North Carolina for seven years. One of the things I love most about the area is the diversity of local farms, farmers' markets, and great food, so I follow lots of local food happenings, but I also keep up with my fair share of Midwestern favorites.

If you like what you find here, feel free to drop me a note and email Yummy things. I'd love to hear from all of you out there!

Fun with Auntie Whitney

We’ve been having so much fun recently that I’m not managing to keep up with posting photos!  We had a wonderful time last weekend while Whitney was in town.

After weeks of rainy Saturdays, the weather was fantastic, so we got to do lots of fun things outside.

On Saturday, we hung out in Carrboro, enjoying the Farmers’ Market, got Hazel some sunglasses at The Red Hen, and got some lunch at Neal’s Deli.

On Sunday, I enjoyed a few nostalgic trips around the Cake Walk at the Club Boulevard Elementary School Mayfair.  Even though I never managed to win a cake, we did enjoy dinner from the Only Burger truck!

Then on Monday, I took the day off work, and Whitney, Hazel and I hung out in Durham.  We checked out the Museum of Life & Science, which had more baby friendly things than I expected.

Our little scientist in training, checking out the fossils

Fascinated by the chimes outside, or just trying to figure out how to eat the stick Whitney was playing them with

Getting ready for the Derby (more on that soon), with her first try “horse”back riding

We capped Whitney’s visit off walking around Ninth Street a bit. Hazel loved some of the toys at Ox & Rabbit, and Whitney and I enjoyed a yummy vanilla lavender milkshake.

It was definitely one of those weekends you’re sad to see end. (To keep it going, you can check out lots more photos on Whitney’s Flickr photostream and in my Flickr set.)

Hopefully it won’t be too long before others get to visit with us again!  Come before it gets too crazy hot!  I’m loving the spring weather right now, but I know it won’t hang around long.
