About me
Hi! I'm Lindsey.

I'm a health educator, like to run at a slow, but steady pace, teach group fitness classes, and do my best to keep up with my family that's spread across the country. In the midst all of that, playing in the kitchen is one of my favorite stress relievers and creative outlets, so this blog chronicles some of my favorite cooking and baking adventures, but in the process it also tells the story of the rest of my life.

Like many people in the Triangle area, I'm a transplant. After spending the first 21 years of my life in the midwest, I've been settled in North Carolina for seven years. One of the things I love most about the area is the diversity of local farms, farmers' markets, and great food, so I follow lots of local food happenings, but I also keep up with my fair share of Midwestern favorites.

If you like what you find here, feel free to drop me a note and email Yummy things. I'd love to hear from all of you out there!

New adventures

It’s hard to believe, but after six years of working with the Dukies, I’m venturing into new work adventures.  I’m now two weeks into a new gig at NC Prevention Partners - a non-profit organization located in Chapel Hill.  I’ll be doing work to help improve worksite wellness policies at hospitals throughout South Carolina.

I’m going to miss working with some really wonderful folks at Duke, and being away from the Cameron Crazies won’t quite be the same.  But I’m excited about this new opportunity.  I can already tell that I’m going to learn a lot.  Plus, I get out of work a little earlier each day, and I get 30 minutes of paid physical activity time each day, so it’s nice for the work-life balance too.

My friends, Pat and Sharon

After years in the college health world, it’ll be quite a change, and I’ll really miss working with an outstanding batch of colleagues. But I’m sure many of our paths will cross again.  That just seems to be how life works.

Hazel with my friend Marianne

Luckily, all my friends at Duke were kind enough to throw me a lovely farewell party, and we were able to coordinate it in such a way that Hazel was able to come along for the festivities.  She was a hit!  She did a great job staying smiley while being passed around from person to person.

Now, with a new office in Chapel Hill, we don’t have to do any apologizing for cheering for those Tar Heels in the month of March!
